Most people training for HYROX are guessing. They string together hard workouts, hope it all adds up, and find out on race day that it did not. This is a behind-the-scenes look at how a complete HYROX training system actually works: the Engine, Strength, and Performance sessions, the race simulations, and the week-to-week structure our 50-plus athlete HYROX race team here in Dallas follows on the way to HYROX Dallas 2026. By the end you will know how to train for this race the right way, and you can download a real week of our programming, free, to see it laid out session by session.
HYROX returns to Dallas on November 18-22, 2026, at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center downtown. The race has grown every year it has been here, and the 2026 edition runs five full days across every division: Singles, Doubles, Doubles Mixed, Relay, and Adaptive. Dallas now draws one of the deepest fields in North America. That is great for the sport, and it is bad news if you show up underprepared.
The timeline is the part most people get wrong. A strong HYROX peak takes 16+ weeks of focused training, and race day is mid-November. Count backward and the window to start building is already open. The athletes who finish strong in November are putting in engine and strength work this summer, not showing up in October hoping a few hard weeks will be enough.
For the full race-day breakdown, including dates, divisions, ticket timing, and format, read our complete guide to HYROX Dallas 2026. This post is about the team and the system that get you to the start line ready to race.
More than 50 of our athletes are already registered for HYROX Dallas 2026. They train together, grind through the same race simulations, and they will be on the floor together in November. It is one of the largest organized HYROX race teams in the city, and it is the single biggest reason our athletes race well. When people go looking for a HYROX race team in Dallas worth committing to, this is the one.
HYROX is scored as an individual sport, but almost nobody trains their best alone. Put ten people next to you who are chasing the same November goal and your training changes. You hold pace on the sled because someone is grinding right beside you. The mornings you would normally talk yourself out of, you show up, because the crew is expecting you. And you learn faster watching athletes a step ahead of you solve the exact problems in front of you: the wall ball burn, the dead legs on the run straight after the sled, the back half of the race where most people unravel.
There is a practical edge too. Training next to people at your level gives you pacing partners, someone to chase on the runs and match on the sled, which is the fastest way to find a gear you did not know you had. The athletes a notch ahead of you become a live preview of where you are headed, and the ones coming up behind you keep you honest. Then on race day you are not lining up alone in a convention center full of strangers. You are racing with a crew that has trained every hard session with you and will be at the rails when the back half gets ugly.
If you have been looking for a HYROX race team in Dallas that athletes genuinely commit to, and not a drop-in class with HYROX in the name, this is the room you want to be training in.
Most Dallas gyms that “offer HYROX” run one workout a week that mixes some running with a few stations. It is a good session and people enjoy it. It also won’t get you to your best on race day, because HYROX asks for four different qualities, and a single weekly class can’t build all four:
Train one or two of these and the race will find the rest on the day. The whole point of a training system is that every session develops a different quality, and those qualities stack into one athlete who can hold it together from the first run to the last wall ball.
Here is a coaching insight we will give you for free, because it will save your race whether you train with us or not. The most common mistake we see in first-time HYROX athletes is going out too hard on the opening 1,000-meter run. You are fresh, the adrenaline is high, the run feels easy, so you bank time early. Then the sled push empties your legs, and every run after that gets slower. The race gets lost in the first ten minutes, not the last ten.
The fix is unglamorous and it works: rehearse running at your goal pace immediately after hard station work, until running on tired legs feels normal instead of alarming. That is why our sessions deliberately stack runs behind sleds and lunges. You can’t cram that adaptation into the final two weeks. You earn it over months. It is also the clearest example of the difference between doing HYROX-style workouts and actually training for the race.
The opening run is not the only place athletes leave time on the table. After coaching a lot of people through this race, here is where we see the biggest and most fixable losses. None of it is complicated. It just has to be trained before race day, not discovered during it.
Notice the theme: none of these are about being fitter. They are about racing smarter, and they are exactly the things a coach standing next to you can fix in a single session. That feedback loop is most of what you are paying for when you train with a team instead of guessing on your own.
Hunger in the Wild is an official HYROX Training Club, and our race-team athletes don’t train HYROX once a week. The week is built so that Engine, Strength, and Performance each get their own focused session, all coached in capped small groups. Here is the rhythm our athletes run:
The three HYROX class types each train a different piece of the race:
Erg-based work capacity. Sixty minutes of straight machine work with no running, so beginners can build an aerobic base without impact, athletes managing knee issues get the running stimulus without the pounding, and veterans add capacity. You learn efficient technique on every machine and your individual paces, so on race day you know exactly what each station should feel like.
HYROX-specific strength and strength-endurance where it matters most: sled push and pull, carries, sandbag lunges, and wall balls. We drill the most efficient movement patterns and race strategy. This is where races are won or lost. Even strong runners who grind through the strength stations pay for it on the compromised runs that follow, so we make sure you are ready for all of it.
Our main pillar class: full HYROX-style workouts with stations and compromised running. With direct access to the Katy Trail, we program high running volume and regular 1k runs, so your compromised running and overall engine keep climbing all the way to race day. You can see how this fits alongside our other group sessions on our HYROX classes in Dallas page.
A real, structured HYROX training week you can actually follow, built around everything the race demands: your engine, your strength, your pacing, and your runs on tired legs.
Knowing the race is one thing. Rehearsing it is another. Leading into HYROX Dallas we have three progressive race simulations built into the calendar, each one closer to the real thing:
Every simulation runs on full-distance courses with official HYROX turf, official sleds and ropes, and experienced coaching. You also do them surrounded by the same team that will be cheering for you on race day. By the time Dallas arrives, you have already raced a version of it three times. Nothing is a surprise.
Sixteen weeks sounds like a long time until you map it against everything the race asks for. Here is the broad shape of a smart build, and why every block leans on the one before it.
Notice that the peak only works because the base came first. That is the whole argument for starting now. You cannot sharpen a foundation you never built, and the calendar to November is already moving. Every week you wait is a week of base you do not get back.
Road to HYROX Dallas is our 16+ week coached race block, built backward from your goal finish time. It periodizes everything above into one plan: engine and strength base early, race-specific intensity and simulations as the date closes in, then a real taper so you arrive fresh instead of fried.
Here is the part that should make you act. With the race in November, a full 16+ week build means the time to start is now, not in the fall. Start now and you will race on months of real preparation. Put it off and you will be racing on whatever fitness you happened to walk in with, against one of the deepest fields in North America. The calendar only moves one direction.
Don’t know your goal time yet? That is fine. Our coaches will help you set a realistic target and build the timeline backward from it.
What separates a class from a coaching system is who is watching you train. At Hunger in the Wild, that is a full coaching staff that programs and races HYROX themselves. Our coaches bring national-level credentials and decades of combined experience in competitive strength and endurance sport, and they are on the floor with you every session, dialing in your pacing, your technique, and your week-to-week progression. When the people coaching you have lined up under real race pressure, they know exactly what you are about to face, and they prepare you for it.
The facility backs it up. We are an official HYROX Training Club with official competition-grade HYROX equipment including full-length turf for sled work, Olympic lifting platforms, and 24/7 access in the Dallas Design District. Everything you need to train for this race the right way is under one roof.
Training on the equipment you will actually race on matters more than people expect. The sled behaves differently on official turf, the SkiErg and the rower each have their own rhythm, and the wall ball target is something you want to have hit a few hundred times before it counts. Get those reps in now and race day holds no surprises.
One of the first questions new racers ask is which format to enter. Here is the simple version, and our coaches will help you make the call based on where you are right now.
This is where a 50-plus athlete race team quietly pays off. Whatever you choose, there is almost certainly a teammate looking for a Doubles partner or a relay leg, so being part of a team this size means you are never stuck on the sidelines for want of someone to race with.
Singles or Doubles, first race or chasing a personal best, there is a spot for you on the team. Three ways to get started:
You will find us at 1350 Manufacturing St, Suite 204, in the Dallas Design District, or reach us at (682) 558-3165. The team is already training for November. Get in now while there is still runway to build something real before race day.
HYROX Dallas 2026 takes place November 18-22, 2026 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, 650 S Griffin St, Dallas, TX 75202. The event spans five days and covers every division, including Singles, Doubles, Doubles Mixed, Relay, and Adaptive.
A proper HYROX peak takes 16+ weeks of structured training that develops aerobic capacity, station strength, pacing, and race simulation. For a November race in Dallas, that means the best time to start building is now. The longer your runway, the more base you bank before the race-specific work even begins.
Our race-team athletes train across three HYROX class types: Engine (erg-based capacity, no impact), Strength (sleds, carries, lunges, wall balls), and Performance (full HYROX-style workouts with compromised running). A progressive race simulation is built into every block. You can download a real, structured sample week to see the exact programming, including the simulation schedule and a coach’s note on every session.
No. Our race team includes first-time racers and experienced competitors. Coaching happens in capped small groups with individual feedback, so the programming meets you where you are and progresses you toward your goal, whether that is finishing your first race or setting a personal best.
You do not need to be in race shape to start. You need to start in order to get into race shape. Whether you are a runner who has never touched a sled or a lifter who dreads the runs, the programming meets you at your level and builds from there. The only wrong move is waiting until you feel ready, because that day does not arrive on its own.
Not at all. Most people who walk in have never touched the equipment, and teaching the technique from scratch is exactly what our coaches do. Clean technique on the machines and stations is worth more than raw fitness on race day, and it is far easier to build when someone is watching your reps from day one.
A weekly class drills the stations and conditioning. Our Road to HYROX Dallas program is a 16+ week periodized block built around your goal finish time, combining strength, engine work, HYROX-specific sessions, and progressive race simulations so you peak for race weekend instead of just staying generally fit.
Yes. HYROX offers Singles, Doubles, Doubles Mixed, and Relay formats, and we coach athletes across all of them. Training inside a 50-plus athlete race team also makes it easy to find a partner or a relay squad to prepare and compete with.
More than 50 athletes are already on the road to HYROX Dallas 2026. If you are serious about racing well in your home city this November, come train with the team that is built for exactly this.
