The Dallas Weightlifting Championship is a USAW Olympic weightlifting competition that’s hosted by Hunger in the Wild every year. Although the event is technically categorized as a “local competition”, it continues to grow in popularity and attract the attention of some of the biggest names and best athletes in the sport.
Since the annual event first began back in 2018, Hunger in the Wild has proudly awarded more than $20,000 in cash prizes to athletes of every level; including beginners, weekend warriors and Olympians.
We are excited to announce this year’s surprise guest, Mattie Rogers! At the age of 27, Mattie Rogers is considered to be one of the most accomplished Olympic weightlifters in history.
Some of her biggest accomplishments include a 6th place finish at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, while competing in one of the most competitive weight classes in the entire sport. Mattie is also a two time World Championship silver medalist and holds records at both the Pan American and American national levels.
This year’s competition will give out more than $3,500 in cash prizes to the top performers from the men’s and women’s open divisions. This makes the Dallas Championship one of the highest paying local, and national, competitions in the country!
The top 3 winners from each division will be decided using the Sinclair Coefficient formula. You can click here to learn more about what the Sinclair Coefficient is and learn how it works.

In a recent interview, Kyle Dosterschill, the owner and founder of Hunger in the Wild, was asked, “What’s the reason behind all of this?” Read his response down below.
“Our goal is really simple; we strive to create an inspiring atmosphere that leaves a memorable impression on everyone who attends, this goes for both competitors and spectators. This is exactly why we give out prize money, and it’s also the reason we invite such high level athletes.
Our inspiration and motivation come from our true love for the sport. We want the sport to grow and we’ve taken it upon ourselves to grow it. We believe that the best way to promote growth is to continuously raise the standards and set higher expectations for all weightlifting competitions and events.”
